My Story

My name is Yitian Cheng. I’m an interactive graphic designer based in San Francisco. I was born in Shanghai and grew up in China. I am currently a senior student at the University of San Francisco.

Design is my major, but for me, it is something I have always loved and am willing to stick to for life. I love design because I am passionate about creating an imaginative world. Petrula Vrontikis’s words, “what the visionaries had in common was a particular love of craft and a desire to play," have shaped my philosophy as a designer. Design is not only an imaginary realization, but also a thinking process, which is related to people, environment, lifestyle, and so on. It is also a responsibility and trust. I believe that design helps us to communicate with each other and work toward the world we want to create.

As a designer, I hope to support my collaborators as they find meaning and purpose in their own work. In addition, I hope to create a better environment for the whole society through my design.

For the last four years, I have liked to travel with friends, visit museums, take pictures, and share everything about beauty. During this journey, I brought all the experiences I encountered into my design. I think that the beauty in life can give my works more real emotions and the viewers will have resonance. As a student, in college, I systematically studied packaging design, typography design, photography, and other professional knowledge. I am familiar with graphic design software Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. While studying, I also came into contact with some internships in the design industry.
